Position Details:
- Unit: Geriatric Psychiatry (Adult Inpatient)
- Setting: 9-bed unit specializing in geriatric psychiatric care
- Shift Coverage: Day and night shifts requiring teamwork among RNs and Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs)
- Facilities: Equipped with advanced patient care devices including vital signs monitors, Hoyer lifts, bladder scanners, and emergency equipment
Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care for geriatric patients with psychiatric needs
- Perform vital signs monitoring, rapid response interventions, code blue support, bladder scans, and blood draws
- Utilize critical thinking skills to assess patient conditions and respond to changing needs
- Collaborate effectively with team members to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment
- Apply de-escalation techniques as necessary for patient safety and well-being
Qualifications and Certifications:
- Registered Nurse licensure with psychiatric nursing experience preferred
- Behavioral and medical experience caring for geriatric patients
- Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and teamwork orientation
- Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Ability to work weekends (weekend shifts required; no on call)
- Flexibility and patience, with a caring and compassionate demeanor
