Job Description

A skilled Registered Nurse with strong Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) expertise is needed to deliver exceptional care in a leading pediatric critical care setting. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with high-acuity hospital experience, particularly those with solid pediatric ICU and cardiac care skills, as well as proficiency in EPIC electronic health records.

Location
This role is based near Sun Prairie, WI, at a prestigious pediatric medical and surgical center recognized nationally for excellence in family-centered care. The facility combines advanced pediatric specialties with a warm, child-friendly atmosphere conducive to healing. Located in Madison, WI, it also offers easy access to local transportation options including bus routes and park & ride facilities. Parking permits are required for onsite parking.

Schedule

  • Day/Evening shifts, 12 hours each (7:00 AM 7:30 PM)
  • Working every Friday through Sunday

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a high acuity hospital setting; first-time travelers eligible
  • Strong Pediatric ICU and general cardiac care experience mandatory
  • Recent EPIC experience within the past 12 months required
  • Two years of acute care experience within the last three years
  • Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or compact license from home state
  • BLS and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience and ability to pass Telemetry test before starting
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, family-centered care to critically ill or injured pediatric patients in a 21-bed PICU
  • Manage a diverse patient population including acute head injuries, neurological disorders, pulmonary disease, cardiac anomalies, organ transplants, multi-organ failure, and ECMO support
  • Collaborate with a skilled multidisciplinary team to ensure exceptional patient outcomes
  • Flexibility to float to various units as staffing needs dictate throughout the contract
