Nurses joining this pediatric Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience daily collaboration within a cohesive, all-hands-on-deck team, supporting up to 40 pediatric patients each day. With exposure to advanced patient care practicesranging from diverse surgical recoveries to high-acuity casesthis opportunity nurtures your skills amidst a Level 1 Trauma setting and a certified Stroke and Chest Pain Center. The workplace fosters a culture of mentorship, learning, and strong interdepartmental support, setting you up for future leadership or specialty paths.
Schedule/Hours:
- Travel assignment
- Structured orientation with facility and unit precepted shifts
Qualifications:
- RN license and experience in peds critical care (minimum 1 year required; 2 years preferred)
- Completion of at least one previous travel assignment
- Certifications: BLS and PALS
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving mindset
Unit Responsibilities:
- Care for primarily pediatric PACU patients (ages 0-17), inpatient and outpatient surgical recovery
- Monitor telemetry, manage post-op medications (including gtts typical to ICU)
- Rare use of BiPAP, no ventilator managementvented patients admitted directly to ICU
- Flexibility to occasionally assist with adult patient care as needed
- Utilize EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell, and Philips monitors
- Maintain high-quality communication in an open bay/unit teamwork model
