Job Description
Providing specialized nursing care in a post-anesthesia care setting is crucial to patient recovery and safety. This opportunity focuses on caring for patients pre-operation as well as during Phase I and Phase II recovery in a critical care environment.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver expert nursing care to patients in post-anesthesia phases, assessing incision sites, vital signs, and stability indicators.
- Utilize critical care skills combined with in-depth knowledge of anesthesiology to monitor and support surgical patients.
- Operate advanced equipment including Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP and Phillips Monitors.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure safe, compassionate, and effective patient care.
- Attend employee health clearance appointments prior to assignment start.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2 years as a critical care RN (ER, ICU) experience accepted in lieu of PACU experience.
- Valid Registered Nurse professional license for the State of Hawaii by the assignment start date.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification recommended; may be required.
- Additional specialty certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC preferred.
- Proof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption prior to start.
Schedule and Shift Details:
- Shifts vary: 8, 10, and 12 hours; covering Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays.
- Units include ASU and PACU with no guaranteed shift preferences.
- On-call shifts up to 3 times monthly (including 8-hour nights and 24-hour weekend/holiday coverage).
