Schedule/Hours:
- Day shift (7:00 am 7:30 pm), 3x12 hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- Saturday shift mandatory: travelers to choose at least 1 Saturday in each 8-week schedule
- Weekend on-call required: select 2 day and 2 night on-call shifts per 8 weeks (Saturday 7p-7:30a, Sunday 7a-7:30p & 7p-7:30a)
Qualifications:
- 2 years of recent PACU & Preop experience (required)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (required)
- PALS, BLS, and ACLS certifications (required)
- CPAN, TNCC, CCRN certifications (highly desired)
- Current nursing license for the District of Columbia (required)
- Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program (required)
- BSN preferred
- Ability to think critically and work independently in a Level I trauma setting
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor patients recovery and consciousness post-anesthesia; communicate status to the medical team
- Record and track vital signs accurately
- Observe for side effects of anesthesia and intervene as necessary
- Manage post-op symptoms, administer medications per orders
- Maintain and update EMR and patient medical records
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care and address any concerns
