A skilled Registered Nurse with PACU expertise is needed to provide exceptional perioperative care in a dynamic hospital setting in Mountain View, HI. This contract opportunity demands advanced clinical knowledge and critical care skills to support patients through preoperative preparation, Phase I and Phase II recovery, ensuring smooth transitions and optimal outcomes after surgery.
Responsibilities include monitoring incision sites, assessing patient stability, and managing vital sign indicators using equipment such as Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, and HP/Phillips Monitors. This role requires a thoughtful and proactive approach to perioperative nursing, tailoring care plans to individual patient needs and collaborating effectively with anesthesiology and surgical teams.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of critical care nursing experience (ER, ICU) preferably with PACU nursing experience
- Valid State of Hawaii nursing license prior to assignment start (application required if not currently held)
- Current BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification recommended and possibly required
- Additional specialty certifications (e.g., NIHSS, TNCC) preferred
- Proof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption prior to start date
Schedule/Hours:
- Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours including Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays
- Work in ASU and PACU units; shift preferences not guaranteed
- On-call responsibilities up to 3 times per month (8-hour night shifts and 24-hour weekends/holidays)
Travel nurses should plan to arrive on the Thursday before their start date for an employee health appointment on Friday. Timeliness is critical.
