Step into a key role supporting patients during their recovery by providing expert post-anesthesia care. As an RN in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), youll work with a dedicated clinical team to ensure safe, compassionate care for patients transitioning from surgery to full wakefulness. Desired Background and Skills:
- Current RN license in good standing
- Minimum of one year recent experience in PACU or a similar post-surgical recovery setting
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Strong assessment skills and ability to manage complex situations quickly
- Excellent communication and patient advocacy abilities
- Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation standards
- Ability to collaborate well with interdisciplinary teams
Primary Responsibilities:
- Monitor patients vital signs and condition following anesthesia
- Respond to post-operative risks and complications with calm expertise
- Deliver pain management interventions and post-op medications
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care needs and next steps
- Maintain accurate records and thorough post-anesthesia documentation
- Take part in interdisciplinary rounds and handoffs for optimal continuity of care
- Uphold established safety and infection control protocols throughout each shift
