Providing advanced post-operative care in a surgical recovery setting, this role focuses on ensuring patient safety and comfort through all phases of post-anesthesia care. The position is based in Keaau, HI, and requires a commitment to arriving the Thursday prior to the start date for necessary employee health appointments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive care to patients in pre-operative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery stages.
- Monitor vital signs, incision sites, and overall patient stability using equipment such as Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCD's, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors.
- Apply critical thinking skills to identify and respond to complications promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with surgical and anesthesiology teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a critical care RN, such as in ER or ICU; experience in PACU nursing is highly valued.
- Valid Hawaii RN license by start of assignment; candidates must obtain a Hawaii license immediately upon acceptance if not currently licensed.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification recommended and may be required.
- Additional certifications (e.g., NIHSS, TNCC) preferred depending on assignment specifics.
- Proof of flu vaccination or an approved medical/religious exemption prior to contract start.
Shift & Schedule Details:
- Varied shifts including 8, 10, and 12-hour periods with potential rotation among days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Assignments may include ASU and PACU units.
- On-call shifts required approximately 0-3 times monthly (8-hour night and 24-hour weekend/holiday shifts).
- No guarantee of fixed hours or preferred shifts.
