Job Description
Provide expert nursing care in a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) setting located in Keaau, HI. This contract opportunity requires advanced critical care skills to support patients through their post-surgical recovery phases, including pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery. The role demands proficiency in anesthesiology principles and post-operative patient monitoring to ensure optimum patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive care to patients immediately following surgery, carefully assessing incision sites and vital signs.
- Monitor patient stability using specialized equipment including Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate effective care planning and patient outcomes.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of patient progress and treatment interventions.
- Participate in on-call rotations as required.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years experience as a critical care RN, such as ER or ICU, is acceptable in lieu of direct PACU experience.
- Valid State of Hawaii professional nursing license by start date (must apply immediately upon offer acceptance if not currently licensed).
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is recommended and may be required.
- Other specialty certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC preferred.
- Proof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption before contract commencement.
- Ability to attend employee health appointment on the Thursday before the contract start date.
Schedule:
- Variable shifts including 8-, 10-, and 12-hour day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday rotations.
- On-call shifts 0-3 times per month (includes 8-hour nights and 24-hour weekend/holiday coverage).
- No guaranteed shift or hour preferences.
