An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with Preoperative (Preop) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) expertise to provide high-quality patient care on a contract basis. This role requires a compassionate and skilled professional capable of supporting patients through surgical preparation and recovery processes, maintaining safety and comfort throughout.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 1 year recent experience in Preop and PACU nursing.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records, with Altera Sunrise experience considered a plus (similar to Cerner).
- Ability to float between Preop and PACU units as needed.
- Willingness to assist occasionally with special transfusion cases.
- Candidates must be nicotine-free in compliance with facility policy.
- New graduates are not eligible for this position.
Location: This position is based in the Independence area near Liberty, Missouri. The area offers a welcoming community with access to a broad range of amenities including parks, schools, restaurants, and shopping centers. The location provides a comfortable lifestyle with easy access to urban conveniences while maintaining suburban charm.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive care to surgical patients preoperatively and in the PACU.
- Monitor patient vitals and recovery status closely post-anesthesia.
- Collaborate efficiently with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety.
- Provide patient education and support during surgical processes.
- Adhere to facility protocols and maintain accurate documentation.
- Participate in orientation programs and training.
- Remain on-call when residing within 30 minutes of the hospital to support emergency staffing needs during holidays and off-hours.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Orientation includes a multi-day training program.
- Weekend shifts are not required under normal circumstances.
- The facility reserves the right to cancel one shift per pay period with advance notice.
Additional Details:
- The role is a contract position offering bi-weekly pay.
- Orientation hours are paid with no additional billing.
- Candidates will complete credential submission prior to start.
- Compliance with a nicotine-free policy is mandatory.
