A nursing opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (RN-PACU) experience, specializing in endoscopy procedures. This contract position offers a dynamic work environment within a busy endoscopy unit that performs 60-70 procedures daily, focusing on gastrointestinal procedures utilizing advanced Olympus scope technology.
Location:
Situated in the Boston, MA area, this position provides access to a vibrant city known for its rich history, cultural attractions, and renowned healthcare institutions. The role is based in a facility featuring 7 procedural rooms and 18 PACU bays, ensuring a fast-paced yet supportive setting.
Schedule/Hours:
- 40 hours per week, primarily daytime shifts
- Standard shift: 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM
- One rotating day shift: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Department operates weekdays from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with some evening, night, weekend, and holiday coverage on call
- Rotating shifts required to support full departmental coverage
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care in 7 endoscopy rooms and multiple MAC and conscious sedation procedures
- Monitor and recover patients post-procedure in the PACU with a clinician-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3
- Perform Olympus scope setup, handling, and reprocessing while maintaining strict infection control standards
- Utilize the EPIC EMR system for accurate patient charting and documentation
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and quality care
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse license required
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in endoscopy or GI nursing
- AHA ACLS certification mandatory
- SGNA or CBSPD certifications strongly preferred
- Proficient with Olympus scope technology and GI technician skills
- Experience managing diverse patient populations in a high-volume procedural setting
