A registered nurse opportunity is available in Canastota, NY, providing care in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) with a focus on neuro, cardiac, trauma, and respiratory patients. This contract position begins on March 23rd and offers a dynamic work environment serving adults with diverse and complex medical needs.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active Registered Nurse license in New York State
- Minimum of 2 years experience in IMCU/PCU settings
- Proven travel nursing experience required
- Current American Heart Association certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Proficient with EPIC electronic medical records system
- Valid drivers license with matching address for demographic requirements
- Ability to provide RN license verification through appropriate boards
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized nursing care to patients with diagnoses such as COPD, DKA, sepsis, myocardial infarction, and neuro conditions
- Operate specialized equipment including temporary pacers, chest tubes, arterial lines, and chronic ventilators with respiratory therapy assistance
- Deliver compassionate care with a focus on patient safety and adherence to protocols within a 64-bed unit, including 15 neuro-designated beds
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams during 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. shifts; flexibility for floating between units is required
