Job Description

Providing specialized nursing care on a 24-bed Intermediate Care Unit requires expertise in neuro stepdown and cardiac telemetry. This night-shift role demands a confident Registered Nurse with at least two years of clinical experience and specific competencies in critical care nursing procedures. The position is located in Camden, SC, offering an excellent opportunity for dedicated professionals to utilize their skills in a dynamic hospital environment on a contract basis.

Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active SC or multistate RN license; no pending licenses accepted
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in intermediate care or related acute care settings
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • Proficient in neuro stepdown and cardiac telemetry patient care
  • Skilled in IV starts, port access, PICC and central/peripheral line maintenance, blood product administration
  • Competence in respiratory care: trach management, oxygen delivery including HFNC and CPAP/BIPAP, chest tube management, ABG interpretation
  • Experience in GI care (feeding tube management) and medication administration including PCA, procedural sedation, heparin protocols, and cardiac/vasoactive drips (without titration)
  • Familiarity with cardiovascular care post-MI, cardiac caths, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry monitoring
  • Additional skills in wound care, isolation precautions, renal failure management, hemodialysis assistance, rapid response team participation
  • At least one year of experience with EPIC electronic health records
  • Ability to float to other qualified units as needed

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adults in a 24-bed IMC unit during the night shift (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week)
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to support patient recovery and safety
  • Utilize advanced clinical skills to manage complex patient needs, including continuous cardiac monitoring and ventilatory support
  • Adhere to hospital policies regarding patient care, infection control, and safety protocols
  • Participate in rapid response and emergency interventions as necessary
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC
