Job Description

Step into an integral role supporting surgical excellence as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room. This contract position offers a dynamic and collaborative environment where you'll be vital to patient care during operative procedures.

Schedule:

  • Four 10-hour shifts per week
  • On call two days per week from shift end (5 p.m.) to 7 p.m.
  • Weekend call required one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) every three weeks, covering 24 hours per day

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Active RN license in Massachusetts
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Completion of an RN First Assisting course following AORN Core Curriculum
  • Minimum of five years experience in peri-operative nursing, with demonstrated proficiency in both scrubbing and circulating
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or American Red Cross

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Assist surgeons as the lead RN First Assistant throughout operative procedures
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient safety and surgical outcomes
  • Provide circulating and scrubbing support as needed, adapting to the demands of each case
  • Maintain adherence to organizational and departmental protocols and high standards of sterile technique
  • Effectively respond to emergency situations as part of the on-call rotation
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
