Job Description
A Registered Nurse with specialized experience in the Operating Room is essential for a dynamic healthcare setting in Waukesha, WI. This contract role offers the opportunity to apply critical nursing skills in perioperative care with a focus on orthopedic procedures. Candidates must bring at least two years of OR experience along with strong orthopedic expertise and familiarity with EPIC electronic health records. Travel experience and the flexibility to float within the skill set to nearby sites within 40 miles enhance the roles versatility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure efficient and effective procedure flow
- Utilize EPIC for accurate documentation and communication
- Respond to call coverage on a rotating basis, including evenings and every third weekend
- Maintain readiness to float onsite or to nearby locations, adapting to departmental needs
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current RN license with a minimum of 2 years OR nursing experience
- Strong orthopedic surgical nursing background
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Experience working with EPIC EHR system
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Flexibility to work call shifts and float between sites within a 40-mile radius
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM 3:00 PM with variable start times
- Call responsibilities weekday evenings and rotating weekends
- Holiday coverage through rotating call schedule
