Job Description

This opportunity seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to serve in the Operating Room, supporting surgical procedures and ensuring high standards of patient care. This contract position involves working primarily night shifts from 9 PM to 7 AM on a schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week, with call responsibilities included. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Washington Navy Yard, DC, offering the chance to engage in critical intraoperative care within a well-established healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scrubbing and/or circulating duties during operative procedures.
  • Manage department admissions to the operative suite.
  • Maintain strict adherence to aseptic and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with surgical team members to develop and evaluate intraoperative patient care plans.
  • Act as a communication liaison among patients, families, and the surgical team.
  • Prepare and equip the operating room to ensure readiness for surgical cases.
  • Verify functionality of equipment and availability of supplies and implants.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current, active Registered Nurse license in the state or district.
  • Minimum of three years of OR experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) highly desired.
