Job Description

An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with strong expertise in the Operating Room setting. This role requires active collaboration in surgical procedures, assisting as the lead until surgery is complete, and, at times, functioning as the circulating nurse. Oversight and support are provided under the direction of the Nurse Manager and within defined guidelines.

Schedule Details:

  • 4x10-hour shifts per week
  • On-call coverage two weekdays per week from 5 p.m. (or end of shift) to 7 p.m.
  • One weekend of call (Saturday and Sunday, 24 hours/day) every third weekend

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse licensure in Massachusetts
  • Completion of an RN First Assisting course meeting AORN Core Curriculum requirements
  • Minimum five years of diverse perioperative nursing experience, including strong scrubbing and circulating skills
  • ACLS certification required
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist surgeons as the primary RN First Assistant throughout operative procedures
  • Circulate as needed, maintaining sterile technique and patient safety
  • Collaborate with OR team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Adhere to organizational and departmental policies and protocols
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge in both scrubbing and circulating roles within the perioperative environment
