Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an NLN-accredited nursing program (Associate Degree required, BSN preferred)
  • Active RN license in Alaska, in good standing
  • 12 years' prior operating room experience
  • Current BLS & ACLS certifications required; PALS and National Certification in Surgery/PACU preferred
  • Compliance with all COVID-19 vaccination requirements
  • Proficiency in AORN standards and medical terminology
  • Competency in patient assessment, planning, and delivery of care for populations ranging from infants to elderly
  • Strong communication, documentation, and critical thinking abilities

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver patient-centric care through all perioperative phases using the nursing process
  • Coordinate, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Serve as a clinical resource, ensuring compliance with practice standards and fostering high-quality outcomes
  • Educate patients and families on procedures, diagnoses, and postoperative care
  • Supervise and support administrative assistants, schedulers, and surgical techs as needed
  • Operate office and medical equipment (cardiac monitors, autoclaves, computers, etc.)
  • Adapt quickly in an ever-evolving clinical environment to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care
