As an operating room RN circulator in this engaging environment, you will be the advocate for patients undergoing surgical procedures. Your responsibilities extend beyond patient safety to managing the overall workflow and ensuring effective collaboration within a close-knit surgical team. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain patient advocacy and safety: verify identity, surgical site, consent, and participate in assessments and time-outs
  • Prepare the OR: set up equipment, supplies, enforce aseptic technique, anticipate team needs
  • Manage intraoperative care: handle documentation, supply count, coordinate among anesthesia and surgical team members
  • Continuously monitor patients: assess vital signs, provide comfort, respond to physiological changes
  • Document accurately in EHR per hospital and regulatory guidelines
  • Ensure inventory and equipment functionality; practice cost-effective resource use
  • Facilitate transition to PACU/other departments and deliver thorough hand-offs
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, participate in on-call rotation
  • Adhere to AORN standards, infection control, and compliance protocols
  • Collaborate flexibly with the multidisciplinary team, supporting other perioperative areas as needed

Desired Qualifications

  • Graduate of ADN or BSN program (BSN preferred)
  • Current RN license (NM or compact state)
  • BLS (AHA) required, ACLS within 6 months, PALS preferred
  • 1-2 years OR circulator experience preferred
  • Critical Access/rural hospital background a plus
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and EMR proficiency
