Job Description

This role offers an opportunity to apply specialized nursing skills in an operating room setting with a focus on ophthalmology and robotic-assisted general surgery. The assignment is an eight-week contract based in the Chicago area, providing a structured Monday through Friday schedule with on-call responsibilities.

Location: Chicago, IL
The position is located in Glenview, a suburban community just north of Chicago. Known for its scenic residential neighborhoods and access to Lake Michigan, Glenview offers a balance of suburban comfort with convenient proximity to the vibrant culture and amenities of downtown Chicago.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide skilled nursing care in the operating room, particularly focusing on ophthalmology cases and surgeries utilizing the DaVinci robotic system.
  • Collaborate effectively with a strong, multidisciplinary surgical team to ensure safe and efficient patient outcomes.
  • Adhere to all facility protocols and safety standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, responding to cases within 30 minutes of the hospital as required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records systems including Epic.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse licensure in Illinois.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant OR nursing experience with at least one prior travel contract.
  • Proficient knowledge of ophthalmology procedures and DaVinci robotic surgery.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic health records system.
  • Ability to fulfill on-call obligations within a 30-minute radius of the hospital.

Contract Details:

  • Eight-week assignment with 40 hours per week (Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM 5:30 PM).
  • Weekend on-call requirements approximately 8-10 shifts during the contract.
  • Orientation available during any weekday prior to start date.
  • Credentialing documents due one week before assignment commencement, including recent CBC, drug screen, and QuantiFERON Gold test.
