As the Operating Room RN, youll be responsible for the comprehensive delivery of patient care throughout the perioperative processincluding assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Youll work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure quality, cost-effective care for patients ranging from newborns to the elderly, all while honoring cultural diversity and age-specific needs.
Schedule/Hours:
- Travel assignment; flexibility required across shifts as patient needs dictate
Essential Responsibilities:
- Direct, coordinate, and document nursing care in the operating room in accordance with best practice standards
- Collaborate with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Serve as a resource to colleagues in complex situations and provide support in pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases
- Administer medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and educate patients and families
- Supervise administrative assistants, schedulers, and techs in partnership with the charge nurse
- Adhere to AORN standards and maintain compliance with hospital policies
Desired Qualifications:
- Graduated from an NLN-accredited nursing program (Associate Degree required; BSN preferred)
- Active Alaska RN license in good standing
- Minimum 1-2 years OR experience
- Current BLS & ACLS certifications (PALS preferred)
- Proficiency in the full nursing process and the management of patient care workflows
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- National Certification in Surgery/PACU preferred
