This opportunity is ideal for a Registered Nurse with a passion for Maternal Child Health nursing, specializing in postpartum care. The role focuses on delivering direct patient care within the Maternal Child Health department, collaborating with unit leadership while adhering to the nursing scope of practice guided by AWONN, ACOG, NNA, and AORN standards. The nurse will be responsible for comprehensive patient care, including observation, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients' physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to postpartum patients within the Maternal Child Health unit
- Collaborate with leadership to maintain compliance with nursing regulatory bodies and standards
- Perform thorough observation and data collection to inform care plans
- Implement and evaluate individualized care addressing physical, emotional, and educational needs
- Utilize appropriate equipment proficiently as part of patient care activities
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
Qualifications:
- Minimum of an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing
- Current New York State Registered Nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire
- Advanced certifications: ACLS, PALS, and NRP within six months of employment
- Preferred experience in postpartum nursing care
- Ability to perform physical tasks including prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and light lifting as required
