Advance your nursing career by caring for the most vulnerable patients in a dynamic Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) setting. As a Registered Nurse specializing in NICU, you will use your expertise to deliver high-quality, family-centered care to neonates while acting as a leader and mentor for your interdisciplinary team. Throughout your contract assignment, your clinical judgment and critical thinking will help ensure each newborn receives outstanding, evidence-based care.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of one year specialized experience in a Level III NICU or higher preferred
- Proficiency with neonatal assessment and critical care protocols
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Capable of directing and supervising nursing staff and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to assigned NICU patients based on individualized care plans and the nursing process
- Monitor, assess, and respond to neonate needs, administering medications, treatments, and therapies as ordered
- Utilize independent judgment and critical thinking to prioritize care and escalate changes in patient condition
- Document all aspects of care accurately within the electronic health record system
- Supervise and mentor assigned nursing staff, providing guidance and support as needed
- Coordinate care and communicate professionally with physicians, respiratory therapists, families, and other healthcare professionals
- Adhere to all clinical safety standards, policies, and procedures
Working in this role provides the opportunity to support education and engage in ongoing skills development while covering both clinical shifts and important non-productive hours. Float Pool nurses must accurately record their hours according to the unit worked.
