Job Description

An opportunity is available for a registered nurse with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience to provide specialized care for critically ill newborns. This contract position is based in Elgin, IL, and offers the chance to work in a Level III NICU environment supporting high-acuity patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to neonates ranging from 24 weeks gestation and up, including micro preemies at 44 weeks gestation.
  • Manage high-acuity cases involving respiratory support and postoperative care.
  • Provide care focusing on growth and feeding development in neonates.
  • Utilize Epic charting system for accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Float to Elmhurst campus when census dictates, demonstrating flexibility.
  • Work every other weekend maintaining continuity of care.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Illinois (IL RN License).
  • Minimum of 2 years NICU nursing experience in a Level III setting.
  • Certification in CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Experience with high-acuity neonatal patients including surgical and respiratory care.
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic health records system preferred.

Schedule:

  • 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  • Every other weekend required.
