Job Description

Deliver high-quality care as a skilled Registered Nurse specializing in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This contract role centers around providing direct care, comprehensive assessment, and critical support for newborns requiring intensive and specialized interventions. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to uphold the highest standards of neonatal care, educate and support families, and adapt to the evolving needs of this sensitive patient population.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Shifts as assigned in the NICU setting
  • Must be willing to float to Pediatrics when needed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonates in the NICU, including planning and coordinating daily care activities
  • Administer medications, monitor vitals, and assess for physiological changes
  • Offer education and emotional support to the families of NICU patients
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary staff in accordance with scope of practice
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and ensure timely communication with physicians and other healthcare professionals
  • Be prepared to cross-train and float to Pediatric units as operationally required
  • Support patient safety, infection control protocols, and adherence to accreditation standards

Qualifications:

  • Current, valid RN license
  • Recent experience in a NICU setting, with strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Willingness and capacity to float to Pediatrics and other units as needed
  • Strong patient and family communication skills, with the ability to deliver compassionate support during stressful situations
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
