Job Description

Deliver exceptional care as a registered nurse specializing in medical-surgical telemetry at a premier academic medical center located in Winston-Salem, NC. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work in a Level 1 Trauma Designated hospital with 885 licensed beds, renowned for its teaching and Chest Pain & Stroke Centers. The 24-bed unit emphasizes patient-centered care with a collaborative environment and strong teamwork culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care to a diverse medical-surgical population, including patients with diabetes, gastrointestinal, respiratory, renal issues, and wound management
  • Manage chest tubes, tracheostomies, peripheral IV starts, drains, tubes, and patient-controlled analgesia pumps
  • Interpret and monitor telemetry strips with accuracy
  • Administer and manage infusion drips such as Amiodarone, Heparin, and various PCA medications
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including CNAs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists for comprehensive patient care
  • Utilize Epic EMR system and Alaris IV pumps in daily clinical practice
  • Participate in rapid response teams and support high-quality patient outcomes

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical telemetry experience (strong MST background essential)
  • Valid RN license and certifications including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Ability to work effectively under moderate to high stress
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring and complex nursing interventions
