An opportunity is available for a skilled registered nurse with med-surg and telemetry experience to provide high-quality patient care on a dynamic medical-surgical unit. This role is based in Winston-Salem, NC, at a Level 1 Trauma designated academic medical center renowned for its comprehensive services including stroke and chest pain centers.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of med-surg nursing experience required; prior telemetry experience strongly preferred
• Ability to manage care for patients with diverse diagnoses such as diabetes, respiratory conditions, renal disorders, and wound care including chest tubes and tracheostomies
• Proficiency in telemetry strip interpretation and intravenous therapy including PIV starts and infusion pump management
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (required for resource team participation)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in high-stress situations while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and indirect nursing care to a patient ratio of approximately 5-6:1 with CNA support
• Perform lab draws, wound care, and manage complex drips including Amiodarone and various PCA pumps
• Collaborate with charge nurses, respiratory therapists, rapid response teams, hospitalists, and intensivists who are available 24/7 to support patient care
• Utilize electronic medical records (Epic) and equipment such as Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensers
• Participate in weekend rotations every other week with two 12-hour shifts available (day or night) in a six-week schedule cycle
