This travel assignment presents the opportunity to expand your resume with hands-on experience on a busy Neuro Medical-Surgical/Tele unit, working with complex neuro and neuro-surgical populations including CVAs, spine surgeries, and cerebral angiograms. Exposure to innovative neuro-care protocols, evolving leadership approaches, and collaborative practices will enhance your skillset and provide valuable growth in your nursing journey.
Position Details:
- Schedule: 13-week contract, 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Shifts: 12-hour night shifts
- Float Requirement: May float to medical unit as needed
- Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday
- Start Date: 5/18
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois RN license required
- AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (must be current)
- At least two years of strong Med-Surg/Tele experience, including neuro-focused care
- Minimum of one prior travel nursing assignment
- Recent experience with EPIC charting
- Proficiency with neuro assessments, dysphagia screening, telemetry interpretation, heparin titration, and blood/blood product administration
- Ability to manage medical overflow patients confidently
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, competent care to neuro and general medical populations
- Conduct thorough neuro assessments and manage complex neuro-surgical patients
- Coordinate care, administer medications, and document in EPIC
- Adapt to changing unit needs, including occasional floating
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for optimal outcomes
