This role offers an opportunity to deliver specialized nursing care in an acute medical-surgical environment, with a focus on older adult patients experiencing conditions such as dementia, stroke, and multi-organ failure. Working on this unit provides a dynamic experience managing both short-term observation cases and longer-term acute care patients under a well-supported interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• 1-3 years of nursing experience, preferably with older adult or medical-surgical populations
• Competency in managing MSU skillset responsibilities including wound care, insulin drips, tachycardia management, chest tubes, NG and PEG tubes
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips preferred
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required

Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a Level IV Trauma medical-surgical unit
• Manage a caseload with a nurse-patient ratio of approximately 1:5 during days and 1:6-7 at night
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, hospitalists, physical and occupational therapy
• Utilize EPIC and Telemetry systems for accurate charting and patient monitoring
• Participate in weekend shifts on a rotating schedule, with no on-call duties required

Schedule:

• Weekend rotation approximately every other weekend, based on unit needs
