Job Description

A Registered Nurse (RN) opportunity is available for an experienced professional on a medical-surgical telemetry unit in West Bend, WI. This contract position offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment where comprehensive patient care and clinical expertise are paramount. The role focuses on delivering evidence-based practice and compassionate, skilled nursing care to a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities include coordinating and providing safe therapeutic care for patients with complex conditions such as diabetes, kidney, liver, and heart failure, respiratory issues, stroke, and cardiac dysrhythmias. The RN will manage multiple admissions and discharges daily, utilizing clinical decision-making and effective communication to ensure the highest quality of care.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care on a 32-bed telemetry unit
  • Manage care for patients requiring wound care, insulin and heparin drips, tracheostomies, chest tubes, nasogastric and feeding tubes
  • Collaborate with charge nurses, unit leadership, and clinical resource nurses
  • Maintain telemetry monitoring with centralized tele-tech support
  • Adhere to RN-to-patient ratio standards (Day: 1:5; Night: 1:6)
  • Participate in every other weekend and holiday shifts; no on-call required
  • Float occasionally to MST or overflow ICU/medical-surgical units when needed

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in medical-surgical/telemetry nursing
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Proficient in wound care, critical drips, tracheostomy, and feeding tubes management
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover
  • Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
