Job Description

A skilled Registered Nurse with medical/surgical and telemetry experience is sought for a dynamic, fast-paced unit providing comprehensive patient care. This role involves delivering safe, therapeutic nursing care using evidence-based practices in a 32-bed environment that cares for patients with complex conditions including diabetes, kidney, liver, and heart failure, respiratory issues, stroke, and cardiac dysrhythmias. The unit operates on a day shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:30, requiring every other weekend and holiday coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide and coordinate nursing care through the nursing process, focusing on patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Utilize skilled communication, clinical decision-making, and compassion to enhance patient experience.
  • Manage frequent admissions and discharges in a fast-paced setting.
  • Perform specialized skills such as wound care, insulin and heparin drips, tracheostomies, chest tubes, nasogastric and feeding tubes.
  • Collaborate with charge nurses, unit leadership, hospital supervisors, and clinical resource nurses for support.
  • Monitor telemetry via a centralized system with tele tech support.
  • Float occasionally to medical/surgical telemetry (MST) and overflow ICU/MS units as required.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid RN licensure with at least 1-year clinical experience in medical/surgical and telemetry nursing.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Proficiency in mandatory skills related to complex patient care.
  • Comfortable working with patient ratios of 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night, supported by techs at a 1:8 ratio.
  • Ability to work within a team-oriented, fast-paced hospital environment.
