Job Description

Providing skilled nursing care on a fast-paced medical/surgical telemetry unit, this role requires a dedicated RN to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based patient care. Utilizing clinical decision-making and compassionate communication, the nurse will coordinate care for patients with diverse needs, including diabetes, kidney, liver, and heart failure, respiratory conditions, stroke, and cardiac dysrhythmias. This environment demands adaptability and proficiency in specialized skills such as wound care, insulin and heparin drips, tracheostomies, chest tubes, and feeding tubes.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid RN license with a minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
  • BLS certification required
  • Experience in telemetry monitoring and managing complex patient cases
  • Proficient in wound care, insulin and heparin drips, tracheostomy and chest tube care, and managing nasogastric and feeding tubes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting with high patient turnover (8-10 admits/discharges/day)
  • Comfortable floating to Medical Step-Down and ICU units when needed (rare occurrence)

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver patient-centered care following established nursing processes and standards
  • Monitor patients using centralized telemetry systems with tele tech support
  • Collaborate with charge nurses, unit leadership, and clinical resources to optimize patient safety and outcomes
  • Maintain a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio during dayshift and 1:6 at night, with tech support ratios of 1:8
  • Work three 12-hour day shifts (typically 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) or night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), with every other weekend and holiday rotations required
  • Participate actively in clinical team communications and support the fast-paced unit environment
