Job Description
Deliver high-quality patient care in a renowned teaching and level 1 trauma hospital, working with a supportive multidisciplinary team. This contract opportunity is available for Registered Nurses with strong med-surg/telemetry skills to provide care across a broad range of complex medical and post/pre-cardiac patients, including cardiac step-down, CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, and sepsis.
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour shifts: 7A-7P or 7P-7A
- Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- No on-call
- Holiday coverage: 1 shift per major holiday (Thanksgiving or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, 12/31 or 1/1)
- Schedule cycles are every 6 weeks
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Active RN license and BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Minimum 2 years of recent med-surg/telemetry experience
- ACLS and National Med-Surg Certification preferred
- Proficiency with assessment and management of complex cases in a trauma setting
- Experience with trach care, chest tubes, heparin/insulin drips, IV insertion and care, and wound care
- Strong cardiac monitoring and EKG rhythm interpretation skills (BCR/EKG Rhythm exam during onboarding)
- Familiarity with Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Philips monitors, Pyxis medication dispensing
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive patient care and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team on a 30-bed unit
- Manage RN patient ratios of 1:4-6
- Perform patient education, discharge planning, and ensure safe transitions of care
- Float to all med-surg telemetry units as needed
- Collaborate with CNAs, resource nurses, and other support staff; participate in hourly rounding, monitoring, and interventions
