Job Description

A dynamic opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with a specialty in medical-surgical and neuro acute care. This contract role is suited for a professional who is passionate about patient-centered care, excels in a fast-paced environment, and thrives as part of an interdisciplinary team in an acute care setting.

Schedule

  • Night shift: 6:45pm 7:15am
  • 36 guaranteed hours per week, with occasional shift cancellations possible
  • Rotating every 3rd weekend
  • No on-call required

Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in neuro/post-stroke acute care nursing
  • Current BLS and NIHSS (AHA) certifications
  • Strong skills in dysphagia screenings, stroke assessments, bedside barcode medication administration (BCMA), and time management
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines
  • Flexibility to float to other acute care units, including facilities within a 25-mile radius
  • Preferred: Experience with TR band management

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to general medicine and neuro acute care patients in a 24-bed unit
  • Manage patient assignments with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Conduct thorough neuro assessments and dysphagia screenings
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with physicians and care teams
  • Document care and interventions using EMR (Cerner)
  • Adhere to facility and professional dress standards, including navy blue scrubs and compliance with TJC and CMS hygiene guidelines
