Job Description

Deliver expert patient care on a dynamic Medical/Surgical unit with a renal focus, serving adult and geriatric populations. This contract nursing opportunity utilizes your med/surg skills, especially in managing renal diagnoses, hemodialysis catheters, peritoneal dialysis (manual and cycler), sepsis, telemetry, ETOH withdrawal protocols, UTIs, and hypertensive emergencies. The unit features 20 rooms, an average daily census of 18, and a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6.

Schedule:

  • Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts (07:00 19:00)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating to similar units as needed
  • No on-call
  • Holiday coverage: Assignment-period-based, with proportional expectations

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience (first-time travelers accepted)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Proficient with Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
  • Experience managing renal/HD catheters and peritoneal dialysis highly preferred
  • Strong ability to monitor and intervene for sepsis, CIWA for ETOH withdrawal, and complex chronic disease management
  • Comfortable working with adult and geriatric populations
  • Must wear navy, white, or combinations for scrubs

  • Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses to treatments
  • Perform technical skills related to renal care and broader med/surg nursing
  • Communicate changes in patient status using policies and appropriate tools
  • Support patient and family education and engagement
  • Adhere to full compliance for timely orientation and assignment start
