Job Description
Step into a dynamic Med/Surg environment providing high-quality care to adult and geriatric patients with a focus on renal conditions. This contract opportunity offers hands-on experience managing patients with a range of diagnoses utilizing current technology and a collaborative care model.
Schedule/Hours:
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:00)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to similar units as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Maximum 7 days of requested time off permitted
Qualifications & Experience:
- Registered Nurse with active certification
- Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg experience (first-time contract nurses welcome)
- BLS certification required
- Comfortable working with adult to geriatric populations
- Experience with medical/surgical patients, including those with: HD catheter management, manual PD/PD cycler use, sepsis, tele monitoring, CIWA (ETOH withdrawal), UTI, CKD, and hypertensive emergencies
- Familiarity with Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR documentation systems
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and elderly patients with varied medical/surgical and renal conditions
- Assess, plan, and implement individualized patient care plans
- Monitor and interpret tele data and track physiological status
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams for best patient outcomes
- Manage renal therapies, including HD catheters and peritoneal dialysis
- Maintain accurate documentation using electronic health records
- Uphold infection control standards and hospital protocols
- Adhere to holiday scheduling requirements: work one major holiday if it falls within your contract, two if two fall, and two out of three if three are in your assignment period
