Job Description

Providing specialized nursing care within a Neurosurgical unit, this role centers on delivering exceptional patient care to individuals experiencing neurological conditions such as stroke, seizures, multiple sclerosis, and patients recovering from neurosurgery procedures. The position requires applying the nursing process to manage and coordinate comprehensive care, ensuring patient rights and confidentiality are maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize nursing assessments to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Monitor neurological status and respond to changes in patient condition promptly.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate holistic patient care.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding neurological health.
  • Maintain accurate documentation using the EPIC electronic medical record system.
  • Serve as charge nurse as required, demonstrating leadership within the unit.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including FIT testing, and maintain professional standards in dress code and conduct.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse licensure with a minimum of 1 year of inpatient acute care experience in Medical-Surgical and Neuroscience nursing.
  • Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required.
  • Ability and willingness to float within the scope of practice when needed.
  • Comfortable working night shifts (7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.) with a typical patient ratio of 1:5-6.
  • Strong communication skills, clinical judgment, and teamwork mindset.
  • Flexibility to work every other weekend and major winter holidays as scheduled.

Additional Details:

  • Contract duration ranges from 13 to 26 weeks.

  • Dress code requires black scrubs to maintain unit standards.
