Provide expert nursing care in a specialized Neurosurgical Medical-Surgical setting during nights in a 37-bed unit focused on neuro and neuro-surgical patients. This contract role offers a unique opportunity to utilize your neuro expertise, critical thinking skills, and recent EPIC charting experience to support patients recovering from CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op craniotomies, and cerebral angiograms, along with managing general medical and psychiatric needs.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive neuro and neuro-surgical nursing care utilizing assessments such as NIHSS, dysphagia screening, and basic telemetry interpretation.
• Manage complex patient needs including strict intake and output, catheter care, heparin titration, blood product administration, venipuncture, and drain management.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while adapting to float assignments between nearby campuses within reasonable notice.
• Maintain documentation using EPIC electronic medical records, with required checkoff training.
• Follow unit protocols for patient ratios, and contribute to a high-functioning, supportive team environment.
• Uphold professional standards including wearing designated navy blue scrubs and participation in precepting students and new hires when needed.

Qualifications:

• Active RN compact license.
• Minimum two years of strong neuro nursing experience, including one travel assignment and level II trauma exposure.
• Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications.
• Proficient in EPIC charting system.
• Exceptional neuro assessment and critical thinking capabilities.
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts with consistent schedules; weekend and holiday rotations required.

Shift & Schedule:

• Nights: 6:30 PM 7:00 AM
• 12-hour shifts
• Guaranteed minimum 36 hours per week; 48 hours available upon request.
• Three weekends every six weeks; on-call and call-back not required.
