Job Description

This opportunity seeks a registered nurse with advanced skills in medical-surgical care to provide specialized post-operative nursing in a dynamic healthcare environment. The nurse will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement patient-centered care plans, and manage complex cases involving tracheostomies, wound care including wound vacs, and new ostomy education. Collaboration with surgical and oral/maxillofacial surgery residency teams is integral to this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial patient assessments upon admission and tailor care plans according to patient and family needs
  • Implement and modify nursing interventions and procedures based on ongoing evaluations
  • Provide vigilant post-operative care to a complex surgical population
  • Manage and care for patients with new tracheostomies and advanced wound care needs, including wound vacs
  • Educate patients and families on new ostomy care and management
  • Ensure safety standards are met by identifying and addressing hazards
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with healthcare team members
  • Participate in continuous professional development and competency fulfillment
  • Collaborate actively with general surgical and OMFS residency services

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

  • Registered Nurse licensure with Medical-Surgical specialization
  • Experience in post-operative nursing and complex wound management
  • Knowledge of tracheostomy and ostomy care
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
