Nestled in Kentuckys Appalachian foothills, Pikeville offers a unique opportunity for travel nurses to experience the regions scenic beauty and close-knit community spirit. Explore local hiking trails, historic sites, and vibrant downtown areas during your free timeall while building your professional skills in a highly regarded trauma center.
This assignment promises robust professional growth by working in a 340-bed Level II Trauma Center, exposing you to fast-paced patient care, surgical/ortho med-surg, and tele settings. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, adapting to diverse leadership styles and best practices while strengthening your resume with sought-after trauma experience.
Schedule:
- 12-hour night shifts (no blocked scheduling)
- 48 hours guaranteed per week (36-hour contracts not accepted)
- Every other weekend and holiday required (unless approved for time off)
- 8-week contract, start ASAP
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver patient-centered care in Med Surg/Tele with a focus on surgical/ortho populations.
- Float to all in-patient care areas as needed, and occasionally support other units as an aide.
- Efficiently read and interpret telemetry strips; document using Care View/EPIC (training available).
- Balance patient ratios (1:6) across units with flexibility and reliability.
- Maintain strong communication and teamwork with colleagues and leadership.
Qualifications:
- Active KY or Compact RN license.
- AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
- Successful completion of an EKG test during onboarding.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience; Level I or II Trauma exposure required.
- Adaptable, resilient, and team-oriented mindset.
- COVID vaccination or approved declination (with weekly testing at travelers expense).
