This med/surg-neuro acute care role offers rich exposure to advanced clinical practices within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You'll work alongside outstanding healthcare professionals, deepening your expertise in stroke assessment and neuro-post-acute care while interacting with diverse patient populations and adapting to varied leadership styles. This experience not only heightens your nursing skill set but also enhances your resume with sought-after acute care competencies and multi-unit adaptability.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 1845-0715 (12-hour night shifts)
  • 36 guaranteed hours weekly (potential for up to 3 cancellations per contract)
  • Every other weekend required

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license (AHA-accredited)
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications (must be in hand)
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience in neuro/post-stroke acute care
  • Strong background in dysphagia screenings, stroke assessments, BCMA, interdisciplinary collaboration, and time management
  • Willingness to float across acute care units within 25 miles as needed
  • Adaptable, professional, and committed to compassionate, patient-centered care

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellent care to medical-surgical and neuro patients (typical 1:6 nurse-patient ratio in a 24-bed unit)
  • Perform neuro monitoring, dysphagia screenings, and stroke assessments
  • Chart accurately within Cerner EMR
  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Uphold hospital infection prevention and safety policies
  • Adhere to uniform standards: navy blue scrubs, TJC/CMS-compliant fingernails, closed-toed shoes
