Working on the Surgical Floor, youll encounter a range of cases including medical, surgical, and oncology patients. Exposure to diverse patient populations and advanced procedures provides meaningful opportunities to expand your resume, learn new best practices, and collaborate with hospital leaders who prioritize education and employee support. Youll be cross-trained in specialized units, gaining familiarity with innovative care strategies and the latest health technology.

Schedule and Shifts

  • 12-hour shifts: Days (07:00-19:30) or Nights (19:30-07:00)
  • Every other weekend rotation
  • Holiday shifts: 1-2 over the winter
  • Overtime possible but not required
  • Flexible scheduling system

Qualifications and Experience

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 1 year of strong med/surg nursing experience
  • First-time travelers welcome with robust experience
  • Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS, ONS (for oncology assignments)
  • Experience in IV and medication management, wound care/VACs, post-op ortho, and familiarity with Meditech EMR

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage care for a variety of patients (med/surg, oncology, ortho, hospice)
  • Utilize a range of advanced procedures: PICC lines, chest tubes, post-operative recovery
  • Hourly rounding and accurate charting with Meditech
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team: CNAs, unit secretaries, hospitalists
  • Participate in shift huddles and ensure patient-centered communication
