Job Description

A specialized nursing opportunity is available in oncology care within a leading Magnet-designated and Level I Trauma teaching hospital. This contract role requires registered nurses with a strong foundation in hematology and oncology nursing, specifically experienced in bone marrow transplant (BMT) oncology. The position involves working across multiple oncology units based on patient care needs, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 4:1, and requires coverage every other weekend.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing stem cell transplants and chemotherapy.
  • Administer chemotherapy safely, adhering to protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; successful completion of the Relias EKG exam is mandatory.
  • Flexibly float between oncology units, including the primary BMT unit and other areas as assigned.
  • Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records.
  • Maintain BCLS certification and preferably hold chemotherapy certification.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current RN license with at least 1 year of oncology nursing experience.
  • Certification and experience in chemotherapy administration preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a high-acuity, fast-paced short-term acute care setting with a daily census averaging 30 patients across 32 beds.
  • Ability to adapt to variable shift demands, including night shifts and floating assignments.

Schedule and Location:

  • Night shifts: 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM 7:30 AM).
  • Located in the vibrant city of Saint Louis, MOa city rich in culture, history, and home to renowned medical institutions.
  • Parking options include monthly passes in several nearby garages, with free parking available during straight night shifts.
  • Orientation requires parking in the Laclede Garage, with a modest fee.
