Job Description

Providing specialized nursing care in a dynamic oncology environment, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to patient recovery in a leading acute care hospital recognized as a Magnet facility and Level I Trauma Center. The focus is on Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Oncology, requiring proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, supported by passing the Relias EKG exam.

Location Overview:
Situated in St. Louis, MO, the facility is a premier teaching hospital with over 1,200 staffed beds. The campus supports advanced clinical practice and research. Parking is available with options including monthly passes in nearby garages and certain accommodations for night shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration and auto stem cell transplants
  • Manage patient care with a 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio across a 32-bed unit and an average daily census of 30
  • Float flexibly across oncology units according to shift needs
  • Maintain BCLS certification and adhere to safety and clinical protocols
  • Utilize EPIC for detailed patient charting and documentation
  • Participate in scheduled shifts including three 12-hour nights from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM and every other weekend

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license with at least one year of oncology or related experience
  • Successful completion of the Relias EKG exam, demonstrating proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Chemotherapy certification preferred
  • Willingness to float within oncology departments as needed
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required

  • Navy blue scrubs attire required
  • Parking options include North Surface Lot, Clayton Ave. Building Southeast Lot, and Clayton Taylor Garage, with orientation parking in the Laclede Garage (note that parking expenses are not reimbursed)
