Make a difference in the lives of oncology patients as a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical Oncology. This contract opportunity offers the unique experience of working in a Magnet-recognized, Level I Trauma and teaching hospital environment. Engage with a collaborative nursing team dedicated to high-quality care for oncology and bone marrow transplant patients.
Schedule:
- Night shifts: 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30)
- Every other weekend required
Desired Background:
- Valid RN license
- At least one year of recent oncology experience
- BCLS certification required
- Chemotherapy certification preferred
- Must pass Relias EKG exam (Interpretation/Management of Dysrhythmias)
- Comfortable floating between oncology units as needed; assignments based on department needs each shift
- Experience or willingness to work with auto stem cell transplants and chemotherapy administration
- Open to first-time travelers
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized nursing care to oncology patients in a 32-bed unit with an approximate census of 30
- Maintain a patient ratio of 4:1 for all shifts
- Support patients undergoing chemotherapy and stem cell transplants
- Monitor patients for dysrhythmias and respond to emergencies following advanced clinical protocols
- Float throughout the Oncology department based on staffing demands, ensuring continuity and consistency of care
- Document patient care activities using EPIC charting system
