Job Description

A nursing opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with oncology experience, offering a rewarding contract position in Lexington, NC. This role emphasizes advanced oncology care in a dynamic hospital setting, focusing on hematology, surgical, and gynecologic oncology patient populations.

Responsibilities include providing comprehensive nursing care to oncology patients, performing venipuncture and IV insertions, managing central line access and care, wound and skin care, addressing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and mucositis, monitoring laboratory values, practicing infection prevention, and administering blood product transfusions. The role supports multidisciplinary collaboration with CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, and uses technology such as Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors. The nurse will primarily float within the cancer center and medical-surgical units as needed.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience, preferably in oncology
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification is a plus
  • OCN certification strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with central line management and transfusions
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills within oncology settings

Schedule and Hours:

  • 12-hour shifts, day shift (6:30 AM7:00 PM) or night shift (6:30 PM7:00 AM)
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend
  • Travelers expected to work approximately 75% of holidays
  • Orientation includes a 2-day departmental and facility-specific onboarding
