A nursing opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses with a background in Medical-Surgical Oncology. This contract position is located in Kernersville, NC, offering the chance to contribute to a highly regarded regional medical center known for its teaching hospital status and comprehensive care services.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year nursing experience, preferably in oncology settings
• Licensure: RN with BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS and OCN preferred
• Skilled in venipuncture, IV insertion, central line access and care
• Proficient in wound and skin care, managing nausea, vomiting, mucositis
• Experience monitoring lab values, infection prevention, and transfusion of blood products
• Comfortable working with an electronic medical record system and relevant clinical technology

Responsibilities:

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care for oncology patients including hematology, gynecologic, surgical, and general hematology malignancies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including CNA, charge nurse, respiratory therapy, and telemonitoring staff
• Adhere to standardized protocols and facility procedures to maintain a safe care environment
• Participate in schedule rotations including weekends every other week and holiday coverage
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to facility requirements including uniform colors

Schedule/Hours:

• Twelve-hour shifts, either days (0630-1900) or nights (1830-0700)
• Scheduled on a six-week rotation cycle with weekend and holiday commitments

Additional Information:

• Facility features a 20-bed unit with an average census of 18 patients
• Free onsite parking is provided
• Orientation includes departmental and facility education
• The role involves potential floating within the cancer center primarily and to other med-surg units as needed during emergencies
