A rewarding contract opportunity is available for Registered Nurses with a background in Medical-Surgical Oncology. This role involves providing care for adult oncology patients, including those undergoing auto stem cell transplants and chemotherapy. Nurses will float throughout the oncology department, supporting units with the highest needs per shift.
Schedule:
- Night shifts: 3x12-hour (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required
Key Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum of 1 year of recent oncology or medical-surgical experience; first-time travelers welcome
- BCLS certification required
- Chemo certification preferred (but not required)
- Must pass Relias EKG exam; strong skill in dysrhythmia interpretation and management necessary
- Experience with chemotherapy administration and auto stem cell transplant patients preferred
- Flexibility and willingness to float within the oncology department
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, compassionate care to a diverse oncology patient population (average census 30, 32-bed unit)
- Administer chemotherapy and manage side effects according to established protocols
- Monitor patients closely for changes in cardiac rhythm and overall clinical status
- Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in a Magnet-recognized, teaching Level I Trauma Center
- Adhere to all hospital policies and chart accurately in EPIC
Additional Details:
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Orientation includes specific parking instructions
