Job Description

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with Med/Surg and Telemetry expertise for a travel assignment in Newburgh, IN. This role supports a 32-bed Neuro Cardiac Medical-Surgical Unit with a focus on complex patient care including post-cardiac catheterizations, CVA/TIA, oncology, and neuro patients. The assignment offers night shifts on a 12-hour schedule with guaranteed hours and opportunities for overtime.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide skilled nursing care to complex Med/Surg/Telemetry patients including neuro assessments, telemetry and 12-lead EKG interpretation.
  • Initiate and titrate drips such as insulin, cardiac medications, and heparin.
  • Manage heart catheterization recovery care including femoral and TR bands.
  • Perform thorough neurological evaluations including NIH Stroke Scale and dysphagia screening.
  • Float as needed across two nearby campuses with adequate notice.
  • Support onboard onboarding activities such as precepting new hires and students.
  • Maintain compliance with clinical documentation standards using EPIC system following checkoff training.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current active compact RN license.
  • Minimum two years of strong Tele/Med-Surg nursing experience.
  • At least one travel assignment completed.
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred.
  • Recent EPIC charting experience required.
  • Skilled in neuro assessments, telemetry monitoring, and critical thinking.
  • Preferred: experience with NG/PEG tubes, PIV insertion, chest tubes, and Tikosyn administration.
  • Ability to manage change well and collaborate effectively in a dynamic team environment.

Schedule & Location:

  • 12-hour night shifts, 6:30pm to 7:00am.
  • Three weekends every six weeks, every other holiday.
  • Primary hospital location in Newburgh, Indiana with potential float to nearby campuses within 8-11 miles.
  • Contract length of approximately 13 weeks with bi-weekly orientation.
