As an RN specializing in Med-Surg with Ortho Neuro Trauma focus, youll work 13 weeks in a dynamic, 44-bed, teaching hospital environment. This is a setting where collaboration with seasoned leaders and exposure to forward-thinking practices will broaden your clinical expertise and enhance your nursing resume.
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM 7:00 AM
- 36 guaranteed hours weekly (option for 48 upon request)
- Three weekends in every six-week cycle; every other holiday
- Bi-weekly orientation; GSA hours not guaranteed during orientation week
Qualifications:
- Current active compact RN license
- AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications (attach with application)
- Minimum 2 years RN experience, including 1 full year in ortho/neuro/trauma
- Minimum of 1 prior travel assignment
- Experience in a trauma level II facility
- Recent EPIC experience; successful charting checkoff required
- Proven skills in strong neuro assessments, log rolling, application of assistive devices, Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation, PIV insertion
- Stepping down experience essential
Preferred Experience:
- Management of chest tubes, drains, drips, epidurals, PEGs/NGs, wounds, Bucks traction, pin site care
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and adaptability
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert care for trauma, ortho, and neuro patient populations
- Float as needed within skillset (with advance notice for cross-campus)
- Mentor students and new hires in a teaching hospital environment
- Participate in a supportive, resilient night team
